Software Engineer Intern @ Pyebook
Pyebook is a small edutech startup that teaches students to code using generative ebooks that adapt to their personal needs, pre-existing skill set and knowledge.
It was founded by my mentor at the time, Rohan Arora. He taught me how to code, and helped me fall in love with the process. After learning the basics, I asked him to give me a internship at his company. This experience proved pivotal in my journey.
Responsibilites:
Writing SQL queries and implementing JWT authentication in a REST API with a small developer team.
Reducing average response times of Pyebook's REST API through the strategic implementation of MySQL indexes, query optimization, and server-level response caching. I managed to bring it down by ~20%.
Leveraging React.js to design and develop UI components for the Pyebook web application. Build three new features and test them rigorously with unit tests written with Jest.
